Hi, I'm Sara

And this is Max. Max was the first hen my kids and I hatched. She was a "very good egg" (bonus points if you get that reference). She and her sisters, Tiny, Fred, Pearl, and Henry brought so much joy to our lives. I miss watching them scratch in the dirt and shake themselves off after a dust bath, their soft conversations (and jubilant egg songs), and their fluffy butts. I loved getting to know their different personalities and seeing how attached they were to each other. Given the space, I'd happily have dozens of chickens in every breed. For now, I make tiny ones from clay.

I love the tactile nature of clay: working with my hands, shaping details, and being able to smush something up and start again when it isn't working. But my favourite part is playing with colour. I've always loved colour, and it finds its way into almost everything I make, from gardens to baking, and experimenting with glazes and creating themed collections has been a wonderful extension of that for me.

I make my ceramics in a small home studio in Kelowna, BC. Chickens are usually at the centre, with other birds and small creatures occasionally joining the flock.
